Today is Tallulah's 5th birthday and this is her official portrait, kind of like Queen Elizabeth's official portrait on her milestone birthdays....She would be a very happy dog today, except we had thunder and lightning all night so she (and we) didn't get much sleep.  I loved her seahorse shadow on her bed :-)  Happy Birthday, Lula!!

Here's Tallulah, swimmer extraordinaire.... She never went near the water except to chase the geese, and even then she wouldn't go in, only run up to the edge of the water and come back in.  The geese knew her and would jump back into the water and just wait until she returned to the house.  They were totally shocked when she bounded down and jumped in right after them.  We were afraid she would keep on going, (which she did for quite a while) but thankfully returned to the shore.  We've created a monster, but we so love to watch her joy when she swims.  This is the first in what I think will be a series of swimming paintings.  I hope you don't get bored :-)

Tallulah and the Lilacs

This is Tallulah (our Sproodle) checking out my first lilacs of the season.  I'm not sure if she was just enjoying the smell or planning on eating them...Either way, she was really interested in them.  This painting isn't as blue as it appears here.  Not sure why this color thing happened, but the background is much more subtle.  I will try to take another photo of it and re-post at some point.

Some people might say dogs don't smile, but I know Lula does.  The reference for this painting was taken right after she came in from chasing her ball outside and she was a happy camper.  I seriously think she has the longest tongue ever, although the Vet has assured me that it's a normal length.  So...Here's Tallulah who gets the honor of being my first painting of 2015 :-)

Tallulah's 3rd Birthday Portrait

Tallulah (Lula, as she is known when she is good) commissioned me to paint her official portrait for her third birthday on September 1st.  She posed in her favorite position in her favorite spot, and she gave me her English Monarch look.  She did not want to be seen as frivolous or flighty...No, she wanted to be taken seriously...No messing around!  She said she was pleased with the portrait, but recommended I take another photo of it because the colors did not quite match the original.  If the government wanted to make stamps, she was a little worried that her public might disapprove.  When I get a chance, I will take another photo so we don't have to hear her whining :-)

A Very Serious Elf

One has to be extremely fast to capture Tallulah, our Sproodle, in her elf get-up.  You can't even see the red top of the cap.  Her expression says it all:  "Really???"  This was the third try, and quite frankly, I gave up.  Not the best picture of her, but the ears look good...

Queen of the Frisbee

Tallulah is almost 2 now, and what a fun dog she is!  Her favorite thing to do is play frisbee and she literally flies...  Ears fly, feet fly, tail straight up in the air.  If we have a treat, she will allow us to take it from her mouth.  Otherwise, she holds on to it for dear life.  She hasn't quite gotten the "drop it" command, although she obeys when it doesn't involve the treasured frisbee.  A little neurotic...Yes...especially when it comes to thunderstorms.  We got her a thundershirt which helps a little, and she looks quite lovely in it :-)  Still scared, but stylish.

They told me to stay off the couch.  Technically, I'm not on the couch...I'm above it.  If they look at my expression, I'm letting them know that and they better not mess with me.  Comfort is my number one priority.  I've got 'living for the moment' down.to a science.  These humans just have to follow my lead :-)

Tallulah's First Birthday

A slight variation from my artwork, but Tallulah deserves a post to celebrate her first birthday.  It's especially exciting because that means she is closer to being an adult Sproodle dog, and less like teenager :-)  At least one can hope... She thanks those that sent cards and gifts.  They are much appreciated.  OK..tomorrow, more artwork ...

This painting of our Sproodle, Tallulah, was done when she was 6 months old.  She looks a lot more "grown up" now and probably would not be pleased to have me post this since she is no longer a puppy.  Now she means business :-)  She's become a real delight, although I have to admit there were days when I wasn't sure we could do the puppy thing again.  However, it was all worth it and she has gotten into our groove. (She would probably say we have gotten into hers)...Our next project is getting her into the lake.  We had this painting framed by Goose Creek Studios, and they did a wonderful job...as usual.  I love it!
