12 x 12 Oil on Gessobord
Abingdon, VA has a balloon festival each year, or at least did in the past. I'm not sure if it still does. This was the first time I was able to see how they set up before flight, and it was such fun! A lot of work goes into getting ready. The balloon chasers really have a hard time of it. They have to follow the balloons and reach the site that they land. Sometimes it involves climbing over fences into fields of cattle or worse. The course is set but it depends on the winds and if off course, the plans go by the wayside and the chasers have to run around hoping to get to the right place at the right time.
