Waiting for the Doggy Bag

6 x 6 Pastel on Wallis Paper, 16 x 16 Framed
$150 + s/h (Framed)

It was a really hot, windy day in Asheville and this little dog was sitting patiently, waiting for his "significant people" to finish their lunch.  Again, this is a quick study, but sometimes these rough pieces stand on their own.  A more polished piece might not have the same feeling of movement.

Sunlight and Shadows - Maine

7 x 7 Pastel on Wallis Paper, 16 x 16 Framed
$150 + s/h (Framed)

SOLD
This is the quintessential Maine.  We ate at an outdoor restaurant across from this boathouse.  The red and stark white next to those great darks was so perfect, and a painting waiting to happen.  I am going to do a larger painting of this scene so that I can incorporate more of the water reflections when I have time.   So much to do...so little time...

Paddles Up!

This is a relatively simple painting and I thought it would be a quick study, but it took a lot longer to paint than I originally thought.  I was using a new brand of pastels which are thicker than most I've used before.  Because the figures are small I wound up switching to my usual brands midway, but by that time everything was out of balance and I had used up the tooth of the paper.  I suppose I could have sharpened the thicker pastels, but I wasn't that motivated.   I saved it as best I could and may think about painting it again....or not.

Laundry and Flowers

6 x 6 Pastel on Wallis Paper, 16 x 16 Framed
$150 + s/h (Framed)

I painted this scene about two years ago when I was on Monhegan Island and have always wanted to paint it again.  The other day, I couldn't get inspired and wasn't ready to finish the painting I had started, so I began to paint this scene again from the photo I had taken.  This is a smaller version, and I have to say, I like this one better.  It might be because I've had so much more time to practice the art of pastels, but for whatever reason, I am more and more convinced that time does wonders in all aspects of life!

Lazy Man's Sightseeing

6 x 6 Pastel on Wallis Paper, 16 x 16 Framed
$150 + s/h (Framed)

I couldn't resist painting this!  My friend's daughter just came back from a cruise and showed me all her photos.  Her boyfriend took this of his legs and the scene beyond.  Actually, I'm assuming he was aiming for the water, but she said that it was typical of him.  He tends to take photos of things other people might not.  I should hang out with him, because I loved all his photos.  The quirkier the better, as far as I'm concerned.  I had fun with this!

Old Seaside Beauty

Ah, the open window!  Don't you wonder what is going on in there?  When I saw this old house on Monhegan Island I automatically thought about what the room looked like on the inside.  I think if the window had been closed, I wouldn't have been as interested or inspired.
